Lahore: Inspector General Punjab Police Arif Nawaz has forwarded a summary to Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar; seeking the approval for the formation of a Punjab Tourist Force (PTF) to facilitate both domestic and international tourists, according to the news sources.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Punjab Welfare Shariq Kamal revealed that the police department had decided to form a separate force to facilitate tourism promotion, as well as renew trust in the services provided by the security forces for tourism protection.

Subjected to its approval, the PTF will initiate operation in Murree in its first phase. In this initial phase, 80 officials (including inspectors) will be recruited from the Punjab Police. The recruited personnel will be trained for two months and will be apprised about all the tourist spots. Furthermore, the officials would take up both Urdu and English communication skills courses.
These officers would act as tour guids and will offer a historical, cultural, culinary overview of the local recreational and tourist attractions. They will be granted mini-jeeps and motorcycles for patrolling, added DIG Kamal.

The PTF will operate under the supervision of the CCPO Rawalpindi and SDPO Murree. After successful implementation of this project in Murree, this initiative will be extended to Lahore and other cities of the province.
