Speaking to the media, Sardar Tahir said that the government needs to focus on the development of the real estate and construction industry, as it is the largest service sector in the country and has multiple industries related to it. He said that real estate development would result in more jobs and affordable housing for low-income families. Stressing on the need to support the real estate sector, he mentioned that the gap between the demand and supply of affordable housing units is increasing with every passing moment and mentioned that the country needs more housing-related schemes to fill this gap.

It is worth noting that the real estate sector in Pakistan is one of the major Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) sectors, capable of creating millions of jobs each year. The government has proposed specific arrangements to satisfy the real estate industry’s demand, as well as laws to regularise the sector in accordance with the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) recommendations.
