Islamabad: The capital administration has begun collecting details of approximately 33,000 families – including daily wagers and families living below the poverty line – affected by the lockdown imposed in the country due to the coronavirus infection, a news source reported . Meanwhile, the administration has also decided to further tighten the lockdown to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the collection of details, the administration would arrange for providing essential edible goods to these families. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said that 1,000 families in the city have already been facilitated.
He further revealed that collection of details would finish within a week and families would then receive a stipend for buying the goods via a government package. He added that around 4,000 to 5,000 people were also receiving cooked meals with the help of Dastar Khawans, Panahgahs and Saylani Welfare Trust.

In regards to tightening the city’s lockdown due to rising coronavirus infection cases, the DC also said that the administration would establish 17 ‘free home delivery centres’ to limit people’s movement. He said that each of the city’s 50 union councils would have a free home delivery centre within three days to deliver food items at people’s doorsteps.
