Islamabad: Minister for Interior Brigadier (retired) Ijaz Ahmad Shah has directed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to ensure building by-laws adherence on the part of real estate developers engaged in setting up their projects near the Islamabad International Airport (IIA), a news source reported.

He issued these directives during a meeting held with officials of the ICT, RDA and the Aviation Division at the Interior Ministry. The two sides discuss the rise in number of real estate projects around the airport, as well as the solutions to address the issues on this front.

Shah also expressed his concerns over the mushroom growth of illegal housing schemes around the city’s airport facility situated and directed the ICT to to curb such developments. The minister also stressed that on the regularisation of the system for facilitating approvals grant to the developers of commercial and residential projects in Islamabad.

In response, the RDA officials said that a GIS software would be used for monitoring projects around the airport facility and to keep track of the construction work.

Moreover, Minister Shah said that the development of real estate projects reflect growth, but there has to be a mechanism in place to properly execute such projects. He further stated that there should be no compromise on taking action against encroachments in the city.
