Islamabad: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) on Tuesday requested the federal government to increase the development budget of Islamabad, a news source reported. To this effect, ICCI President Ahmed Waheed stated that a number of local traders and businesspersons had sought an increase in budgetary allocations in a bid to promote uplift schemes in the capital city.

Waheed asked the government to allocate more development funds so that the city can play an active role in improving the country’s economy. He further stated that stalled development work in Islamabad had affected public, businesses, and industries. He highlighted that basic amenities were out of order.

The ICCI president also urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) to focus on the development of markets and industrial areas. He appealed to the authorities concerned to plan Islamabad’s development projects for next year in consultation with the local business community.
