Islamabad: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Muhammad Ahmed Waheed has called upon the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to reallocate Sector I-17 as an industrial estate to help boost industrial development within the region and create new employment opportunities, according to news sources.

The ICCI president said establishing a new industry in the existing industrial estates of Islamabad might not prove to be profitable. He reiterated that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s incentives for the construction industry will also benefit this new industrial estate.

Furthermore, Waheed revealed that the development of an industrial estate was announced in Sector I-17 of Islamabad about a decade ago and the locals were paid for the land. However, the sector has been de-notified as the industrial estate since, he added. He said that the present situation and lack of industrial space has been a cause of disappointment to potential investors.
