Islamabad: The federal government has assured the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) of establishing a new industrial zone in Islamabad, news sources reported on October 18.

Reportedly, a delegation from the federal government met with the president of ICCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, and agreed to make him a member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board. The visit of the political leaders to the ICCI came with the chamber elections and the nomination of the new office.
During the meeting, federal government representatives stated that the government’s primary aim is to promote corporate operations in the capital and that concrete steps have been taken in this regard. This includes the construction of road infrastructure projects, such as the sanctioning of 11 new routes for Islamabad and the deployment of electric buses to help relieve traffic congestion in the city. The delegation also stated that the completed Bara Kahu Bypass and Rawal Road Interchange projects have improved traffic flow in the city.

On the occasion, ICCI president Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari urged government authorities to lower DC rates for land prices in the city to boost the construction industry.
It is vital to mention that the ICT Industrial Zone is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and primarily focuses on the high-tech industry, IT, and associated industries.
