Islamabad: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has been asked to finalise one of the proposed sites for establishment of an industrial estate in the capital city, a news source reported on May 18.

Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister S.M Tanveer, while addressing the business community at ICCI, stated that the Punjab Industrial Estate Management and Development Company has identified four sites for setting up the industrial estate by ICCI. However, it will be finalised by the ICCI.
In the same meeting, Punjab Excise and Communications Minister Bilal Afzal informed the attendees that funds have been released for the rehabilitation of Kahuta Road. It was also mentioned that roads, covering 2,600 kilometres, leading to various industrial estates will be repaired. He asked the business community to send their concerns related to the excise and communication department through their chambers and every effort will be made to resolve them.

The meeting discussed the establishment of an industrial area around Islamabad including the Kahuta area. The Punjab Cabinet members opined out that industrialisation should be promoted by the private sector for increasing exports and improving foreign exchange earnings. ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari recommended formulating 10-year economic policies for better promotion of business and investment.
