Islamabad: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to commence with its development work in the city’s marketplaces, according to news sources. The ICCI has further directed the civic agency to form a task force for this purpose — with its aim being to develop and streamline business activities in the city’s commercial areas.

ICCI President Muhammad Ahmed Waheed, Senior Vice President (VC) Tahir Abbasi, and VC Saif ur Rahman Khan released a joint statement in this regard. They said that the CDA was responsible for carrying out development in the capital city. They also appealed to the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz, requesting him to push the authority to begin development work in the local markets quickly.
The ICCI officials added that the city’s markets currently lacked sufficient car parking, good sanitation, and other such facilitates. They also indicated that the footpaths in these areas also needed to be repaired. They added that the absence of such facilities was causing hindrances for the traders.

In the joint statement, there was also the mention of the aggravated vehicle parking problems in the markets of the F-6 and F-10 sectors, as well as the Blue Area. The statement stressed that CDA should expedite its efforts to provide better infrastructure in the marketplaces for the facilitation and growth of business activities in these areas.
