Hyderabad: Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro has directed stakeholders to submit written proposals for Hyderabad Master Plan 2047, a news source reported on December 8.

The mayor spearheaded a crucial meeting with various stakeholders to outline the comprehensive master plan. It was shared that the plan, with an estimated cost of PKR 500 million, aims to enhance the city’s sustainability and liveability for future generations.
Mayor Shoro visited rural Hyderabad and was concerned because of the widespread new housing schemes, emphasizing the urgency for strategic planning. He highlighted the issue of conversion of agricultural land into commercial and residential spaces which makes the city more vulnerable.
Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner Anees Ahmed Dasti stated that the main objective of the meeting is improved urban planning and optimal land utilization. The master plan will encompass vital components such as a drainage system, clean air initiatives, agricultural activities, access to pure drinking water, and the provision of essential civic facilities throughout the city.

During the meeting, Director of the Department of City and Regional Planning at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Imtiaz Ahmed Chandio, expressed gratitude to Mayor Shoro for involving stakeholders in the consultation process for the Hyderabad Master Plan. Chandio stressed the need for improved road infrastructure and a robust transport system to reduce citizens’ reliance on private transportation.
Moreover, ADC-I Najeeb ur Rehman Jamali highlighted the necessity of a detailed study on population growth, attributing the city’s demographic changes to rural-to-urban migration. Stressing the importance of a demographic study, Jamali suggested relocating Hyderabad Civil Hospital on a larger scale and shifting commercial markets outside the city for a cleaner and more peaceful urban environment.

The meeting concluded with Mayor Kashif Shoro directing all stakeholders to contribute written proposals, ensuring a collective effort in shaping the comprehensive and forward-looking Hyderabad Master Plan 2047.
