Lahore: Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat has announced that the hurdles causing delays in clearing pending court cases — regarding plots in cooperative housing schemes — will soon be removed, according to a news source. The minster made the announcement while presiding over a meeting held for the formation of a special committee on the Punjab Liquidation Board.

The meeting was attended by Law Secretary Nazeer Ahmed, Liquidation Board Chairperson Bushra Aman, and concerned officials from related departments. During the session, the gathered personnel reviewed the proposals and drafts for legal amendments to the Liquidation Board.

During the conference, the law minister requested the police department to help retrieve confiscated properties for their lawful owners. He also instructed the meeting members to ensure transparency while auctioning off properties owned by the Punjab Cooperatives Department — the purpose of which is to generate revenue for the provincial government.

Liquidation Board Chairperson Aman also briefed the meeting members on the board’s land retrieved from encroachers. She further revealed that the auction for the board’s properties in Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Okara, Toba Tek Singh, and Vehari had already been initiated.
