Islamabad: The capital administration has recovered over 1,500 acres of forest land in Margalla Hills from encroachers – a news source reported.
A meeting to discuss the anti-encroachment operation was held on Monday. Officials of the capital administration and forest department attended the meeting.

The participants were informed of the division of the hills into eight forest blocks. Officials from the Survey of Pakistan said that they had yet to complete the demarcation of two of these blocks. The administration has handed over the retrieved land to the forest department.
It was also revealed that Margalla Blocks 1 and 6 have been completely demarcated and cleared of encroachments. At least 897 acres of land in the said blocks still remain under illegal occupation.

Similarly, 406 acres in Maira Block 2 have been cleared. Efforts are currently underway to recover Maira Block 1. Furthermore, at least 161 acres in Block Tumair 3 and 50 acres in Block Tumair 1 have been recovered.
Blocks Tumair 2 and 4 have been completely cleared.
