Karachi: The water level in Hub Dam increased after the recent spell of monsoon rains in Karachi and the surrounding areas, according to official sources. This will help improve the water supply in the city, and be a source of relief for its residents, according to a representative of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
The spokesperson, Rizwan Haider revealed the good news that the current water level of the dam was sufficient to meet the needs of the city till December 2020. The chief engineer of the Water and Development Authority (WAPDA) and project director of Hub Dam, Ahtahsamul Haq, said that the dam’s water level had risen from 298.5 feet to 309 feet.
The maximum level is 339 feet, so there is still some room for 30 feet of water. Haq stated that the reservoir hadn’t reached its maximum level since 2007, and the current level is sufficient to meet the needs of Sindh and Balochistan as per their respective shares.
