Lahore: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has decided to increase the capacity of Hub Dam, according to a news story. This is to cater to the growing water requirements of the country.
Wapda Chairman Lieutenant General (retd.) Muzammil Hussain took this decision and said that the increased capacity would aid Sindh and Balochistan. Wapda is also going to restore the dam’s storage capacity to 49,000 acre feet by removing sediment deposits from the reservoir. Wapda has also decided to implement a hydroelectric power project at the dam. According to its concept paper, 1.4 megawatts of electricity can be generated from the dam by installing two power production units.
