Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has said that it might start legal proceedings against those housing societies which haven’t gotten their building plans approved, according to a news report.
The operators of the schemes have been approving the building plans and issuing occupancy certificates themselves. This is a direct violation of CDA regulations. In a statement, the CDA official has labelled this as a challenge to the authority’s writ.
The CDA has issued letters to these societies to this effect, and asked all the developers to get approvals for any building plan by the authority before proceeding with construction. All developers have also been asked to declare within 7 days which legal authority they’ve been seeking for approvals.
The CDA Member Planning Asad Mehbob Kayani has highlighted that action is being taken against all illegitimate housing societies and their operators. He has also said that as per the directions from a Senate panel, the CDA has decided to regularise schemes that meet CDA requirements, whereas a complete list of all CDA-approved housing societies can be found on the official CDA website.
