Lahore: Rules for housing schemes should be amended in public interest, a news source quoted Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed as saying. The provincial minister shared these views while chairing a meeting with notable government officials.
Punjab Secretary Housing Hassan Iqbal and Lahore Development Authority Director General Amna Imran Khan also attended the session.

For introducing amendments, Rasheed directed the LDA officials concerned to get the stakeholders onboard. He suggested introducing changes in the process of issuing NOCs for societies’ layout plans, planning standards, and designs. Rasheed further recommended changes in the marketing services opted by the developers.

The minister ordered that the stakeholders must be taken into confidence prior to the preparation of the amendments draft. He also instructed the LDA staff to be considerate of the recommendations and demands put forth by builders and developers. The task of finalizing the amendments in the rules concerned should be completed without any delay, said the minister.
LDA director general and Housing and Urban Development secretary also briefed Rasheed on the amendments proposed in the existing regulations.
