According to the details revealed, findings into the Hafeez Centre fire breakout have highlighted a lack of fire preventive supplies such as hydrants in major plazas across the city; prompting the government to inspect such commercial developments in Gulberg, Garden Town, Iqbal Town, and Johar Town for safety measures.
To facilitate this measure, the 15-member body comprising members of the Civil Defence Department, Rescue 1122, LESCO, Director Planning LDA, SDO and SDPO WAPDA will inspect fire hydrants, emergency exits, electric supplies, and parking spaces in high-rise buildings situated in said areas – and submit its report (through the assistant commissioner concerned) to the deputy commissioner.
