Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given a seven-day deadline to the owners of high-rise buildings which lack proper firefighting arrangements, reported a news source. Following its announcement, the agency served notices to the owners of buildings found to be noncompliant on this front.

To inspect the current situation in high-rise buildings, a special LDA team visited various plazas on Main Boulevard Allama Iqbal Town and Moon Market yesterday. The team inspected the existing firefighting arrangements in these units. It also briefed the building owners on how to ensure public safety in the event of any untoward incidents.

The LDA team specifically directed the building owners concerned to install fire hydrants and firefighting system. For this purpose, a seven-day deadline, starting from April 3, 2019, has been given. The building owners failing to comply with the LDA orders are expected to face strict legal action.
