Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah officially inaugurated the newly reconstructed Main Hawksbay Road, alongside the rehabilitation of the existing Carriageway stretching from Machhli Chowk to Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP), according to news published on August 15.

The inaugural ceremony, organized by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, took place at Machhli Chowk on Monday. Financed through a World Bank-supported endeavor named the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi project, the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Main Hawksbay Road has been successfully concluded at a total cost of PKR 1.15 billion. Commencing its execution in January 2022, the project demonstrated remarkable efficiency by reaching completion within a commendable span of just 15 months.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab presented a comprehensive overview of the project’s significance to the Chief Minister. He accentuated the enhancements that have been implemented to optimize the road’s motorability, including the strategic installation of streetlights designed to ensure the convenience and safety of commuters during both daylight and nighttime hours.
