Taxila: The Hassanabdal Municipal Administration (HMA) has commenced with the implementation of a beautification plan worth millions of rupees, according to a news source. Under this initiative, the relevant bodies are giving the city a facelift ahead of the upcoming Baisakhi festival. Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from all over the world are expected to participate in the festivities.

The HMA focussed its beautification efforts on areas such as Main Chowk and the gateway to Gurdwara Punja Sahib and the adjoining areas while drafting the plan. Assistant Commissioner Adnan Anjum Raja revealed that the local community and its notables had provided financial contributions for this beautification project.
Raja stated that the administration had installed statues at Tipu Sultan Chowk opposite Cadet College in the memory of Tipu Sultan, and had also installed LED lights from the bus stand to Hazara Road.

He added that the authorities concerned would develop greenbelts along the front and rear sides of the Sikh temple. In addition, they have added rickshaws and excavators to the city’s fleet of waste management vehicles. These steps are aimed at facilitating pilgrims as well as promoting a positive image of Pakistan.
