Due to several reasons, the project has faced delays over the past five years, but is considered indispensable for solving traffic issues in the city. In addition, the project was recently removed from the list of projects included in Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA)’s Annual Development Programme 2019-20.
Back in 2017, the Punjab Planning and Development Department had included the PKR 700 million project in its list of priority developments planned for the year, but the Planning and Development Division did not grant it approval.
With the PM showing special interest in the expansion and remodelling of the Ammar Shaheed Tunnel project, it is believed that some major development towards its initiation can be expected soon.
