Quetta: Balochistan National Party-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal demanded on September 20 that the federal government give people of the province the right to make vital decisions regarding projects in Gwadar.
Speaking at the public meeting held at the Shahwani Stadium, in the Sariab area, the leader said any project against the interests of Balochistan would be strongly opposed, albeit by “peaceful struggle”.
According to him, Balochistan is being treated as a “colony” and it is high-time this treatment came to an end. The Baloch should be given due importance in Gwadar’s decision-making process, he said.
He also raised concerns over the lack of attention given to the province in the economic plans, the lack of funds allocated for pure drinking water in Gwadar, and the problems caused by the influx of Afghan refugees.
