Gwadar: The Government of Pakistan has given the green light to Gwadar Rail Freight Connectivity project, according to news sources. This project aims to connect Gwadar Port with the rest of the country, especially with places in Balochistan.
The freight train is to make it easier to move things in and out of Gwadar Port. It’ll also help the environment by reducing air pollution from trucks, since trains are more eco-friendly. Pakistan Railways and the Gwadar Port Authority have already done a study to figure out how to build the railway. They’ve planned out where the track will go, along places like Koh-e-Batil and the Eastbay Expressway. This track will connect the docks at Gwadar Port to the main railway yard in Gwadar, and even stretch further into the country.

The Gwadar Port Authority and port operator have started clearing structures along the planned route. Acting on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s directives, the Gwadar Development Authority is now working to obtain an additional 50 acres of land next to the already acquired Pakistan Railway land to build a container yard.
The Senate Committee on Maritime Affairs has been talking about it, seeing how it can help connect Gwadar to other important places like ML-1 and Quetta. This railway track will be a game-changer for trade and transportation, making Gwadar Port a key player in moving goods both inside Pakistan and around the world.
