Islamabad: The new government is likely to revive the USD 2.3 billion Gwadar-Nawabshah LNG Terminal and Pipeline Project, stated a news report. This can be attributed to Iran’s concerns over the delays.
The Gwadar-Nawabshah LNG Terminal is an alternative to the previously agreed IP gas pipeline project. Recently, Iran enquired which measures Pakistan would take to revive this project and also conveyed that it wants to have this project moving forward amicably.
Initially, Pakistan was required to lay down the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline by December 2014, however, there have been significant delays but now both parties seem eager to revive it. The Inter State Gas State Systems (ISGS) Managing Director Mobin Saulat has said that Gwadar-Nawabshah LNG Terminal and pipeline project is a strategic one and will help boost activities at Gwadar Port.
