Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has said that the Gwadar Master Plan will be finalised soon and be submitted before the cabinet for approval, according to a news source.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting of the Steering Committee, which was held to review Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan.
The minister highlighted that the master plan is a major milestone towards making Gwadar an inclusive and sustainable coastal city. He also reiterated the government’s commitment towards protecting the rights of the local people.

Moreover, he mentioned that the port city would bring about tremendous improvements in the socio-economic conditions of the people of Balochistan. The scope of trade activity the port can facilitate will help the entire region, he added.

The minister also appreciated the efforts of Fourth Harbor Design Institute for providing assistance on the master plan. He pointed out that the institute has successfully incorporated the recommendations with respect to the policy framework and land use in the proposed plan.
