Lahore: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa has stated that after Main Line-1 (ML-1) project has been completed, Gwadar port city will also linked to the rest of the country through railway line – a news source reported on September 29.

He further stated that a number of companies from the Gulf region had expressed their intent to establish industrial units in the Gwadar Free Zone. He said that significant progress had been made in the 2,400 acres of the port city’s free zones where local, Chinese and Gulf investors were looking to establish their industrial units.
Speaking of the development in Gwadar, he stated that the government had commenced with the construction of the Gwadar airport in collaboration with the Chinese government; which had provided a grant of USD 230 million for the project.

The CPEC Chairman also revealed details of Gwadar’s Oil City; stating that the government had identified a chunk of land for the construction of an oil refinery and storage units near Pasni.
