Islamabad: The New Gwadar International Airport, being developed with an accumulative USD 246 million, is reported to become operational next year by September 2023 for both national and international flights, news sources reported on July 18.

As per the details, the International Airport will span over 4,300 acres of land, which makes it Pakistan’s largest airport. The source reported that the development work of the airport was at different stages. The work related to air traffic control will be completed by March 2023; work on the passenger terminal building is expected to be completed by June 2023, and overall construction of the airport is expected to be completed before September 2023.

Moreover, the New Gwadar International Airport will be managed and operated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and owned by a tripartite venture between China, Pakistan, and Oman. It was shared that the airport will be the second airport that will be capable of handling A389 aircraft. The airport will help boost trade between China and Pakistan and enhance the development of the Gwadar peninsula. It will operate as per the open sky policy, under the guidance of CAA.
