Gwadar: In line with Gwadar’s main role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the emerging port city is to get top-notch 4G service, reported a news source reported. The service will benefit the projects and schemes initiated under the CPEC.
According to a spokesperson of Telenor, the service provider, the existing 3G sites in the city have been upgraded, allowing access to high speed internet to its users in Gwadar. Upgrading the city from 2G to 3G and then to 4G was a daunting task as Gwadar lacks fibre-optic infrastructure. Telenor has instead used its satellite for the purpose.
Because of its strategic location and a number of ongoing projects launched under CPEC, Gwadar is set to emerge a maritime hub in the region. With 4G available, people in Gwadar can now use high-speed internet and stay connected with the rest of the world.
