Islamabad: Finance Minister (FM) Miftah Ismail stated that the development of Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone is vital for the economic development and growth in the country, according to a news published in the leading newspaper on May 31.

FM Miftah Ismail met China Overseas Ports Holding Company (Pvt.) Ltd Chairman Zhang Baozhong to discuss the importance of Gwadar Port and the Gwadar Free Zone area. He went on to say that Gwadar Free Zone and Gwadar Port have a huge protentional as a part of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC). Moreover, the minister appreciated the technical support of the Chinese firm for the development of Gwadar Port. Chairman Baozhong acknowledged the enormous potential and significant opportunities of the deep seaport for the economic development of the region. He further showed interest in the enhancement of further cooperation in logistics and maritime fields.

In response, the finance minister assured full support and cooperation of the government to improve trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
