Karachi: Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani on Tuesday announced that the Gutter Baghicha land, originally reserved for the development of a park under the city’s master plan framework, would be demarcated again — a news source reported. He added that until the issue regarding the exact land allocation for the said recreational facility remained unresolved, no bus terminal or housing scheme could be constructed there (as per the directives of the Supreme Court).

Providing further details, the commissioner said that according to the original master plan of the area, the land in Gutter Baghicha had been dedicated for the development of a park. However, when other parties made claims over the land, the Supreme Court instructed that the land should once again be reserved for a park as it was originally planned — with the Karachi administration having already started work in this regard.

Commissioner Shalwani revealed this information during a visit to the Gutter Baghicha area, where he additionally instructed the officials concerned to ensure that no one encroached on the land dedicated for the park.
