Lahore: The Punjab government has prepared the integrated traffic system for the Gulberg Elevated Expressway project, news sources reported on February 8. The 10.5-kilometre-long signal-free route will include eight bus stations. The government intends to begin construction on the project in March.

The PKR 61 billion project would run from Gulberg to the Babu Sabu interchange on the M-2 Lahore Islamabad Motorway. The facility is anticipated to serve 47,000 passengers and commuters daily, reducing overall commuting time from 40 minutes to 15 minutes. Moreover, the highway would include five exits and entrances at Canal Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Band Road, and Multan Road. Furthermore, the elevated highway project would have eight dual carriageways to alleviate the city’s growing traffic congestion.

It is worth noting that Chief Minister Buzdar approved its Project Concept-1 (PC-1) on January 20. It was reported that the project was created with the needs of the metropolis and the Lahore Master Plan 2050 in mind.
