Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday (November 16) announced that Gulab Devi Underpass will be opened for traffic by December 20, news sources reported. In this regard, the authority has released the construction schedule of the project. According to the details, the LDA will begin barrel road carpeting, retaining walls, and the water bounds of the underpass.

The final phase of the project will begin on November 20 (tomorrow) and will continue until December 20. Furthermore, the LDA presented Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar with three designs for the final finish and beautification, with the CM choosing the design with aluminium work. Similarly, the LDA has begun work on the development of side roads beginning at Burj Lahore. It is worth noting that the LDA began work on the Gulab Devi Underpass in June, and the foundation stone was formally set on July 19 by CM Buzdar.

The project is located on Ferozpur Road, which is one of the city’s busiest roads with a heavy traffic flow. The regular congestion of roadways during peak hours resulted in massive traffic jams. The problem is likely to be alleviated once the underpass is completed.
