Gujrat: City Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saif Anwar Jappa on Monday direct the assistant commissioner (AC) to immediately impose ‘Section 4’ of the Land Acquisition Act in order to expedite the land acquisition process for the dualisation of the Samman-Dinga Road, a news source reported. Jappa issued the directives while chairing a meeting.

As per reports, the project is estimated to cost around PKR 7.7 billion, out of which the federal government has allocated PKR 1 billion in the ongoing fiscal year – out of this however, PKR 500 million will be spent on the required land’s acquisition. As per the estimates, over 750 kanal of land will be acquired for the dualisation of the said road.
Additionally, the deputy commissioner also directed the project’s executing authority to procure the required no objection certificates (NOCs) from the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), National Highways Authority (NHA), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) and other departments to remove their installations along the route, so as to timely initiate the development work.

The road-dualisation project also includes construction of a flyover from River Chenab to the entrance of Gujrat and another at the Upper Jhelum Canal.
