According to a Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) representative, the purpose of the search is to identify at least 100 acres of state land near Wazirabad that can be accessed from said industrial districts.
The official further stated that the heads of the chambers of these districts visited a site (proposed by the Sialkot Chamber) in Sambrial tehsil near the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway. The members included Qaiser Iqbal Baryar (president of the Sialkot Chamber), Waheedudin Tanda (Gujrat) and Umar Ashraf (Gujranwala), as well as former presidents of the Gujrat Chamber, Tariq Bilal Malik and Suban Zaheer Butt.

According to the details revealed, the Sialkot Chamber had proposed the location because of its proximity to both the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the Technology University. The officials are also expected to visit a site (jointly proposed by the Gujrat and Gujranwala chambers) near Sohdra town of Wazirabad tehsil.
