Gujranwala: The district administration recently announced its decision to beautify the city’s Ghanta Ghar and Food Street compounds — among other landmarks — to promote tourism and improve security in the region — a news source reported.

The decision was made by Gujranwala Commissioner Zahid Akhtar, after he and Deputy Commissioner Lieutenant (retd) Sohail Ashraf paid an inspection visit to various areas of the city. During the visit, they also reviewed the records of the Revenue department and municipal corporation to determine how to restore Ghanta Ghar to its original state.

Afterwards, the two officials visited the Food Street area and the inner city. On the occasion, they directed the officials concerned to ensure the removal of all encroachments on the Food Street and directed them to improve and bring homogeneity to the decorations in the area — in order to make them more aesthetically pleasing.
