Gujranwala: Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sohail Ashraf has mobilised a contingent of 700 civil defence force members and volunteers to assist the armed forces during the period of lockdown, a news source reported.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (HQ) Khalid Umar Qureshi addressed these volunteers in his capacity as a representative of the DC. He said that previously, during emergencies, civil defence force had always performed its functions diligently. He said that now is the time for each member of the society to work selflessly in order to achieve a common objective.

He said that the volunteers will be issued special cards and soon they will also be instructed about their functions and responsibilities will be assigned to them.
Qureshi further said that it is the DC’s vision to make the civil defence force fully operational again so that they could always be available for emergency situations.
