Gujranwala: Gujranwala Commissioner Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Thursday directed the Gujranwala Waste Management Company (GWMC) and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to remove encroachments, including roadside building materials, from the GT Road and clean the city’s greenbelts – a news source reported.

Further, he instructed the PHA and the GWMC to increase the coordination among the departments to remove encroachments on model roads and clean the greenbelts. Commissioner Zaman directed the officers to ensure that the staff performs its duty efficiently. He asked the PHA officers to not allow people misusing the greenbelts and parks. Those littering the parks and dumping rubble there will face legal actions.

The commissioner also inspected the roads marked as ‘model roads’ in Gujranwala. These include GT Road, Nowshera Road, Hafizabad Road, Pasroor Road, Jinnah Road and Sialkot Road.
