Security personnel are also collaborating with anti-encroachment teams to ensure the safety of individuals. The anti-encroachment drive was started in January 2021 from the Manzoor Colony and demolished 250 unlawful concrete structures. According to the surveys, there are 3,100 concrete houses built near Gujjar Nullah, while 2,100 houses have been built near Orangi Nullah that should be eliminated. According to Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw (NED) university assessment, approximately 5,000 concrete structures placed above stormwater drains should be demolished to prevent urban flooding.

It is important to note that the anti-encroachment drive was launched last year on the Supreme Court’s orders, following the submission of the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) report. The study was compiled by the NDMA in response to the city’s devastating urban flooding, which claimed many lives and flooded a major portion of the city.
