Lahore: The Punjab Growth Strategy 2019-2023 will be launched by the end of March, a news source quoted Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakhat as saying. Under this strategy, the Punjab government will offer residential facilities to seven million people over the next five years.

Bakhat made the announcement while chairing a review meeting of the Punjab Growth Strategy.
He explained that under this strategy, the provincial government plans to create one million jobs. He added that the initiative’s targeted growth rate has been fixed at 7% of GDP. The government will use the industry, SME, and agriculture sectors as the growth engine to generate the said employment figure.

During the meeting, the minister assured the participants that the government would consult all stakeholders before launching the strategy. He added that human development was the main focus of this strategy. Specifically, it is geared towards improving the scope of health, education, employment generation, agriculture, and investment parameters in the province.
