Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has directed the concerned authorities to finalise the arrangements for the groundbreaking of Swat Motorway’s Phase-II in the next week, according to a news story published on Tuesday (April 5).

CM Khan chaired the meeting of the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA) to review the progress of road projects including Dir Motorway and Swat Motorway Phase-II. The meeting was briefed on the progress of the Swat Motorway project. The CM asked the relevant authorities to make arrangements to launch work on the said project in the coming week.
As per the details, the 88-kilometre long Swat Motorway, from Chakdara to Fatehpur, will be constructed at the total cost of PKR 58 billion. It was disclosed that PKR 6.7 billion has been released for land acquisition for the project. It is pertinent to note that Swat Motorway will comprise of 4 lanes, but can be extended to six lanes.

Moreover, the said motorway project will feature 9 interchanges at Mingora, Shamozai, Madin-Fatehpur, Barikot, Kanju, Sher Palam, Malam Jabba-University of Swat, Chakdara, and Matta Khawazakhela. Under this project, 8 bridges will also be constructed on the Swat River. Sharing details about Dir Expressway, the PKHA officials notified that the Expression of Interest has been floated. The 30-kilometre long expressway will include 24 bridges, four flyovers, three interchanges, two tunnels, and two underpasses.
