Hyderabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to break ground for Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project tomorrow (December 9), according to news published in the newspaper on December 8.

As per the details, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has deposited the full amount of PKR 15 billion with the Sindh government to acquire the land for the 306-kilometre-long Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway project – the last link missing from the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway project, worth PKR 307 billion.
The NHA general manager mentioned that the authority will acquire the land once the final award in the Naushahro Feroze and Matiari districts has been passed. It was stated that the land acquisition process has reached the advanced stage after going through all the basic stages of the Land Acquisition Award.

Moreover, Khairpur covers the largest area of the M-6 project with 76-kilometre, Matiari’s share is 70-kilometre, Naushahro Feroze’s 64-kilometre, Shaheed Benazirabad’s share is 59-kilometres. The project’s procurement process by the NHA has been almost finished. The financial close for the project will be completed within six months.
The news source mentioned that the federal government will provide funds of PKR 9.5 billion as upfront viability funding while the contractor will pay PKR 4,087 billion as NHA’s share over the period of 25 years. The total cost of the project is PKR 307,394 million.
