Quetta: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi performed the ground breaking of Gwadar’s Eastbay Expressway on November 22, according to a news source. The project is estimated to cost PKR 17 billion.
Abbasi directed the concerned officers to complete the project on time. During the ceremony, Abbasi said that the Economic Free Zone of Gwadar will be completed this year, while development work on other projects that include a power plant, Pak-China Friendship Hospital, Gwadar Port and the new airport will also be completed on time.
Talking about the Eastbay Expressway, Abbasi said that the 19.5-kilometre long and six-lane wide expressway will assist in cargo handling and connect the port with the rest of the country by linking it with Makran Coastal Highway by linking it with Makran Coastal Highway. The project is meant to improve logistics and transportation of import and export of goods via the Gwadar Port.
