Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Thursday (March 17) inaugurated the Green Youth Movement to promote better environment, according to news sources.

Minister Asad Umar introduced the Green Youth Movement at the Convention Centre in Islamabad as part of the Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Programme. The ceremony was attended by Special Adviser to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Usman Dar, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul, Chairperson Higher Education Commission Shaista Sohail along with stakeholders of the education sector and students.
Moreover, the minister revealed that the Green Youth Movement will help the national youth to hone their skills, enhance capacity building, and engage their talents for the betterment and prosperity of the country. Speaking at the event, SAPM on Youth Affairs Dar stated that the Kamyab Jawan Programme has a vital role in the creation of jobs and business opportunities. He went on to say that under the initiative, youth will represent Pakistan in other countries and learn new approaches to address climate change.

Reportedly, the HEC chairperson disclosed that the initiative in collaboration with the British Council and School of Leadership Foundation (SoLF) will engage 2.5 million youth and 137 universities. She further added that more than 65,000 jobs will be created under the said movement.
