Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday approved the ‘Green Stimulus’ package, under the 10 billion Tsunami Project, to boost plantation activities across the country in an effort to generate job opportunities amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a news source reported.

The ‘Green Stimulus’ package is formulated to boost tree plantation, including setting up of forests and nurseries, and to promote honey gathering and fruit plantation. As per the publication, it was informed that under the package, another initiative titled ‘Green Nigehabaan’ would be started to generate job opportunities for the youth and the daily wagers as part of the tree plantation drive.

PM Khan revealed that boosting the tree plantation drive to improve the green cover of the country was a top priority. He said that the government bodies and international organisations should be working hand-in-hand to improve the scope of the project and generating jobs. He directed the Ministry of Climate Change to engage the international community and discuss Debt for Nature Swap program.
