Lahore: The Government of Punjab has approved the feasibility report for setting up the Green Railway Corridor along the railway track that runs between Shahdara and Raiwind, reported a news source. On the 228 acres of railway land, heaps of garbage will be replaced with walkways, sports facilities, libraries, open gymnasium and children’s play areas.
On the greenbelt connected with the railway track, Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) will also plant 32,500 trees. For implementing the project plan for Green Railway Corridor, the PHA has asked for funds worth over PKR 1 billion from the Punjab Development Board. As soon as the funds are released, development of the project will be started under the direct supervision of PHA.
