Islamabad: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday (January 20) said that the Green Line Passenger Train would commence operations from Islamabad to Karachi on January 27, according to news sources.

Minister Rafique made the announcement through his official Twitter handle and said that the department is ready to resume Green Line Passenger Train operations from Islamabad to Karachi with upgraded service features. He expressed hope that the train service will greatly facilitate the passengers and generate much-needed profits for the railway department.

The train comprises two air-conditioned parlours, five business-class AC bogies, six standard AC bogies and four-five economy-class coaches to accommodate passengers. It was highlighted that Minister Rafique has instructed for the travel time of the new Green Line train service to be reduced to under 20 hours. Other instructions included for the administration to ensure the provision of quality food and for the ticket prices to be kept affordable.
