Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Monday (October 4) announced that the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will become operational next month, according to news sources. It was also mentioned that the next shipment of 40 buses will reach Karachi by October 13.

As per the details, the first shipment of 40 buses have already reached Karachi in September and the drivers are in the final stage of training. It was disclosed that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will inaugurate the BRT project after the next 40 buses reach Karachi.
Sindh Governor was hopeful that the BRT will provide services to Karachiites after minor final details are taken care of. Furthermore, the governor mentioned that BRT was a world-class project having the same quality and services that are offered in developed countries. Some people have suggested that the Green Line BRT has the same design of stations and services as ‘Metro Service of London’.
Sharing details about the Green Line BRT project, it was reported that the metro service will start from KESC Powerhouse Chowrangi in Surjani Town and will end at Merewether Tower. The bus service will pass through Nagan Chowrangi, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, and Gurumandir. It was revealed that the route will have 21 stations to cater to 300,000 passengers daily.

Moreover, the governor mentioned that the bus service will have 23-kilometre dedicated tracks, which will include 11-kilometre elevated section. Highlighting the features of BRT, Sindh Governor Ismail stated that the project will have special services for differently-abled persons and senior citizens. Every bus will have automated stairs for wheelchairs.
