Karachi: The Federal Government of Pakistan has approved the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) suggestion to construct the track of Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Phase II on track instead of having an elevated route.
Green Line Phase II will connect Taj Medical Complex with Municipal Park. According to Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. Chief Finance Officer Zubair Channa, a 30-year plan is being carried out to fix transport issues in the city. He further revealed that the according to the amended design, Green Line will run on the divider between the dual carriageway of MA Jinnah Road, reducing the road to three lanes on each side.
The new design proposed by the ADB was accept recently. The project consultant will now prepare a detailed design, after which the process for awarding the contract will start. The project is set to complete in June 2019.
