Lahore: Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has inaugurated the Green Corridor Project on Lahore Ring Road (LRR), reported a news source. Rasheed planted a tree near Adda Plot on LRR to officially launch the project.

Under the terms of this initiative, over 100,000 trees will be planted on the LRR.
Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Chairman Yasir Gillani, PHA Director A. Muhammad Tehseen and Deputy Director Zahid Iqbal joined Rasheed in the inauguration ceremony.

Sharing project details, PHA chairman said that 11 enclaves have been formed to plant over 100,000 trees along the LRR. He also mentioned that the authority will plant saplings for at least 6-feet high trees.
The provincial minister remarked that the Clean & Green Campaign was not ‘just a random project, but an ideology’ to help transform Pakistan. He requested people to participate in it with enthusiasm.
Talking about the sustainability of the project, Rasheed said that housing societies located along the LRR have been directed take care of these trees. The PHA bounds these schemes to not only take care of the newly planted saplings. but also participate in the campaign, he added.
