Rawalpindi: Pakistan Railways has planned a mega operation to retrieve its land in Rawalpindi, a news source quote Pakistan Railway Senior Superintendent of Police Raja Zaheer Arshad. The operation is expected to start in a few days.
Reportedly, a ban has been placed on offering funeral prayers on the railway track. Furthermore, the heads of all private and public schools located near railway tracks have been provided with the numbers of the station master to keep them informed about the train timings that clashes with those of school timings.
During a press conference held yesterday to brief media on the anti-encroachment activities carried out by the department, Arshad said that Railway land worth PKR 1 billion near Chakwal has been cleared of encroachers. He also indicated that salaries of Railway police officer are much lower than those of Pakistan Police. In this regard, announcements were made by the previous governments, but no concrete measures were taken to address this issue.
A summary to increase salaries of the police staff has been sent by Minister for Pakistan Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to Prime Minister Imran Khan. It is expected that staff salary will be raised soon and this will help improve performance of Railway Police officers.
